Entrance exams are conducted by educational institutes every year to pick skilled and proficient candidates for admissions. While the entire country has numerous colleges conducting admissions test, the following article enlists some of the most significant ones conducted by popular institutes in the northern part of the country.
So, if you are straddling through the exam season, clueless about which entrance exam to take, here are a few options to pick from. Students should note that the below-listed exams are conducted by universities in north India but offer admission to candidates from every part of the country.
Delhi University (DU) conducts DUET (Delhi University Entrance Test) for admissions to undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate level programs. As many as 3.5 lakh candidates registered for the exam in 2019 for undergraduate admissions.
The exam is of 2 hours duration and conducted in online mode once in a year. In 2020, DUET will be held from June 2 to June 9. Registrations for the same are slated to begin from March 2.
2. IPU CET
Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) conducts IPU CET (Indraprastha University Common Entrance Test) for admissions to the undergraduate and postgraduate courses. It may be noted that admission to the B.Tech. courses offered at the university happens through JEE Main scores and IPU Counseling.
The exam is of 3 hours duration conducted in offline mode once a year. In 2020, the exam is expected to be held in the month of May/ June. Registrations for the same will begin from March/April. However, the university is yet to announce an official exam calendar for IPU CET.
Lovely Professional University (LPU) conducts LPUNEST (National Eligibility and Scholarship Test) for admissions to various undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Other than admissions, candidates qualifying LPUNEST can also bag scholarships to pursue programs at LPU or any of the NITs and IITs.
LPUNEST is a 2 and a half hours exam which is held in online mode twice a year. As many as 70,000 candidates appear for the exam every year. Registrations for LPUNEST phase I exam open from mid-September 2019 till January 9, 2020. Phase I exam is expected to be held between January 10 to January 25, 2020.
Chandigarh University (CU) conducts CUCET (Chandigarh University Common Entrance Test) for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses. CU’s common entrance test also offers scholarships for candidates to pursue courses from the university.
CUCET is a 2 hours exam conducted in online mode once a year. Registrations for the exam have now ended and the entrance test is being held from November 1 to December 30.
Birla Institute of Technology and Science Pilani (BITS) conducts BITSAT (Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test). The exam is a gateway for admission to undergraduate courses offered at BITS Pilani and its other campuses across India. As many as 3 lakh candidates take the exam every year.
BITSAT is a 3-hour long exam which is held in online mode once a year. Online registrations for BISAT 2020 are expected to begin from January while the admission test is expected to be held in May.
